Following the completion of the dam removal and restoration of Sawmill Brook, the Middlesex Land Trust is exploring ways to make Highland Pond Preserve more welcoming and accessible. This includes the potential creation of a new parking area and improvements to trail accessibility.
We are specifically considering a universally accessible segment (designed for wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers) along the Blue-Blazed New England National Scenic Trail, where it follows the former trolley line through the preserve. Our goal is to ensure that everyone—regardless of mobility—can enjoy the natural beauty of this special place.
We want your input. Whether you personally experience accessibility barriers or simply care about conservation and inclusion in our community, your perspective will help inform our next steps.
