The Middlesex Land Trust, in partnership with the Trust for Public Land, is excited to announce that our project to permanently protect approximately 80 acres in Durham was selected for funding through the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection’s Open Space and Watershed Land Acquisition Grant Program!
This project will permanently safeguard nearly three-quarters of a mile of the Mattabesett section of the New England National Scenic Trail, ensuring that this nationally recognized recreation trail remains protected for future generations. Beyond preserving public access, the project will conserve forests and wetlands, strengthen an important regional wildlife corridor, protect water resources, and enhance the resilience of the landscape in the face of a changing climate.
This project highlights the power of conservation partnerships to protect the landscapes, habitats, and recreation opportunities that benefit our communities today and for generations to come.
