Middletown – One of the Sumner Brook Corridor Preserves (Harris, Lyceum, Jackson and Longworth), this 39.21-acre property is located off Millbrook Road and was donated in 1996. It has primary access on Wilcox Street with a kiosk and map, although the preserve has not been developed with a trail system.
The Harris family sold this property in the 1950s to Brook Meade, Inc., a local development company that built houses in the area. Much of the land was subdivided into building lots, but the wetlands on the property made it impossible to develop all of the land. The principles of Brook Meade and their heirs donated the land in 1996 and requested that the preserve be named after the Harris family who were a long-time farming family that worked this land.
