Meeting Location: Mattabeseck Rd, Middlefield, CT

Details: Meet at the Black Pond Boat Launch parking area.

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Join us on a hike co-sponsored by the Middlesex Land Trust and the Connecticut Forest & Park Association. This is a short (1.5-mile) but steep out-and-back hike on the New England National Scenic Trail in Middlefield.

We’ll climb to beautiful cliffside views from the rocky ridge above Black Pond. Along the way, we’ll showcase one of the Middlesex Land Trust’s newest preserves and discuss our efforts to protect access to trails and preserve open space. While the hike is relatively short, it is a steep and rocky climb to the cliffs, which feature a sheer drop.

Well-behaved dogs are allowed, but they must remain leashed at all times.  Hiking boots are recommended. Bring your own water and snack. Bad weather cancels.
